But will it be enough. Sure $99 Blu-ray players may be just the thing to finally make me pick one up. But it’s doubtful I’ll be purchasing a bunch of movies for my home library unless they bring those prices down.
Here is the part the giant conglomerates are not getting. People will invest money in a good player if the movies are affordable.
But the list price of $39.99 per flick is too much, especially when DVD’s for the same flick are half the price or less.
If you really want mass adoption of this format before you are completely overtaken by online distribution. Make the movies cheaper. Keep the player expensive if you like, but make the movies affordable. Make it easy for people to buy, and rent.
Then you might be relevant for a few years. Maybe.
