Apple has finally gotten around to releasing their promised new In-Ear Headphones. They were originally promised for September, pushed back to October, and now in December we can actually order them.
Now normally I wouldn’t care too much about an set of $79 ear buds but… These buds are not only offering some serious audio improvements, but new features for compatible iPods as well.
An in line remote that controls playback, pause, next and previous audio and video tracks, as well as volume control. As an iPod touch user I am cursed with having someone actually need to talk to me as soon as I start a podcast and slide the iPod into my pocket, which in case you don’t know involves me holding up one finger while, retrieving said iPod Touch and double clicking the home button to bring up the audio controls and them pressing the pause button before I can listen to what the interupter has to say.
That alone might be worth $79 to me, but wait… there is more….
Also included on the inline remote is a microphone, that will let you record sound… to an iPod. Seriously. Now you can record voice notes, or meetings, or even your unsuspecting friends and enemies for playback later or syncing back up with itunes and sharing with the world.
These earbuds are compatible with all the latest versions of the iPod. The 4th generation Nano, the 120GB iPod Classic, and of course, the 2nd Generation iPod Touch (Sorry Rob)
