jkkmobile: Runcore and MyDigitalSSD team up: High Speed SSD for $69

Warning, if you are not into this sort of thing this is 12 minutes of some of the dryest video out there.

However if you are into this sort of thing this is a truely amazing video.   A SSD Hard drive upgrade for an Eee PC or Dell Mini 9 that will not only add more storage space in your netbook, but increase the speed significantly.

The video shows editing of HD video while web browsing with almost no performace drop, something that is pretty much unheard of in the sub $500 computer world, let alone an ultra portable netbook.

The cool thing is the drive upgrades are pretty affordable too.

  • 16gb - $69
  • 32gb - $119
  • 64gb - $199
  • 128gb - $389

Sure that $389 price tag is more than you actually pay for either the Eee or the Dell netbook, but it’s also more storage than I have on my 17” Mac Book Pro right now….

This kind of upgrade complete changes the netbook, turning it into a real workhorse if you want it to be.

Now you just need to decide if it’s worth it to upgrade your cramped lil netbook into a workhorse.

Note: these are PCIe SSDs which means they will not replace a standard SATA drive, you need need a system designed to take these drives.   To my knowledge the two major netbooks that use this setup are the Eee PC, and the Dell Mini 9.

My Digital Discount has them in stock.
