The state of 4G: it’s all about congestion, not speed
A great albeit dry article covering the state of 3G, as well as what is coming for 4G and why.
Personally I think the quote is a bit off, to suggest that Verizon is only deploying LTE because the iPhone is driving use in that direction is a tad short sighted. Sure it plays a part, but probably not as big of a part as Verizon’s parent company Vodaphone wanting all it’s assets to be GSM based systems for interoperability.
Still it’s a great read if you are a wireless nerd, like me.
