But first let me sum up.
Android has had multi touch capabilities built into the hardware and software for a while, but hasn’t made use of it in the basic OS or any of the included google apps. The rumor was there was some sort of handshake agreement between Apple and Google not to have multi touch on Android devices in the States.
But now, with a new update for the Google Nexus 1, and hopefully coming soon to the Moto Droid, Google has updated all their Android apps to make use of multi touch gestures. You know, pinch zoom, flick, that sort of thing.
MG Siegler seems to think it’s because Mommy and Daddy are fighting right now, but one or two disagreements does not a divorce make.
I think it’s just that all the Android developers have started including Multi-Touch in their apps, and so the jig as it were, is up. It’s just time for Google stop pretending the devices don’t have multi-touch.
