CES 2010: Boxee Releases Hulu, Netflix, WebTV Device (via revision3)
This has to be the hottest thing I have seen come out of CES, the boxee box. Sure sure it was announced a while ago, in fact I think I wrote an article about it here (make with the search, I’m to lazy to link it).
But what we are seeing now at this years CES is one the price point $199, and… the very cool remote that is a simple remote on one side and a qwerty keyboard on the other. Freaking brilliant.
Why? do I care about a keyboard on my remote? Well because boxee streams web content Hulu, IPTV, Netflix and more and occasionally you need to sign in to use those services, and signing in on a remote without a qwerty keyboard is a major PIA.
Also Boxee in addition to streaming everything you like on the web, is in and of itself a social network, and if you want to be able to take advantage of that interactivity you are going to need something to type on.
Another cool thing about the sub $200 boxee box by D-Link is, the processor is going to have flash acceleration support, so it will stream HD flash like a champ.
But enough of me, check out Patrick Norton and his thoughts, in the video.
