Yes the dream of smell-o-vision…  like flying cars and Star-Trek Transporters it’s something we have all talked about or heard about but most of us never thought we’d see it in our lifetime.   Well we were wrong.

Toaster-Like Contraption Brings Scents to Gaming

ScentScape is a real device, and for a mere $70 it can be yours.   Designed for Video games this will now let you smell the death and decay you are wading waist deep through in that dungeon crawl.   It will lets you breath in an acrid odor as you dive out of the way of that incoming napalm strike in Black Ops.  You can smell the burnt rubber and racing fuel when you make a pit stop, smell the roses in the castle garden, the septic bowels of your prey as you withdraw your dagger, and so on, and so forth.

ScentSciences is targeting the gaming market at fist but there is no reason you the device can’t be adapted to videos and movies.  In fact they are even including scent editing software with the device so you can make up your own smells and share them with your friends.

Outfrakingstanding!

Sarcasm aside this is actually pretty cool, and I’m impressed to see the initial offering so reasonably priced.

Make it compatible with my Xbox 360 and I’d be tempted to try out this contraption.
