Shared Data Plans: Verizon vs. AT&T
Droid Life compares the shared data plans now available from both Verizon and AT&T. It looks like the deals are almost a dead on match for one another (not that we expected anything different from the two biggest carriers in the USA… collude much?) But what erks me a bit is there doesn’t seem to be much in the way of savings for the consumer, at least not until you get a bunch of devices online.
Example #1 Verizon Shared:
My iPhone $40
My Wifes iPhone $40
My iPad $10
Shared Data Pool of 4GB $70
Total Monthly Bill $160
Example #2 Verizon Current:
My iPhone w/ unlimited (5 gb) data $70
My Wife’s iPhone w/ unlimited (5 gb) data $70
My iPad with 1GB pay as you go $20
Total Monthly Bill $160
So….. what’s the incentive to change? Sure it’s nice to have it all on one bill but… that saves the carrier money too… so how about helping out the consumer for a change. Make us happy to be with you, for a change. Hey Sprint or T-Mobile… What have you got for me? I’m not impressed with the big boys.
