IBM Takes First 3D Image of Atomic Bonds

Ok kidding aside, this is actually pretty cool. Boffins working for IBM have built a microscope capable of showing off the atomic bonds between atoms in molecules.

No more dowels and colored balls, no more rotating 3d simulations on your computer, now we can actually look at things on the atomic level and see how they are put together.

What does this have to do with my love of gadgets? Not much yet, but to be a fan of technology you sort of have to be a fan of science too, and this is some pretty damn cool science.
