While myself and others continue to refute the pre as an iPhone competitor due to the lack of apps. The Palm Pre home brew applications are getting stronger and stronger.

Case and Point, an app called MyTether allows you to use your Sprint EVDO access from your computer, or… any other type of internet enabled device.

The MyTether App will let you connect via USB to your lappy. But it also will connect via Blue Tooth or wait for it…

You can turn the Pre into a mobile WiFi hotspot for any number of WiFi enabled devices to connect. BooYah!

One of the hottest mobile data devices out there right now is the Verizon and Sprint MiFi, wich is a credit card sized device that lets you connect up to 5 Wifi enabled devices to the carriers fast EVDO service. But it seems you don’t need to pay $60 a month for a MyFi if you already have a Palm Pre.

You can buy the self installing version of My Tether for $10, and assuming it works as advertised it’s well worth the cash. But if you are technically inclined and know your way around the command line, there is a free version you can get too.

Oh sure this is breaking all sorts of terms of service but both Sprint and Palm need to see more rapid adoption of this device, so If I were them I’d look the other way, at least for a little while.
