I always like to plug the home town boys when they are doing the right thing.
The Rochester Business Journal is reporting that it’s Kodak CCD image sensors that will be heading up in the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter that will be used to map the surface of the Moon.
Why are we mapping the moon? Well because we can and we should, but more importantly it’s part of a long term project for a lunar base station. We can’t build on the moon without knowing what terrain we will find before we get there.
It’s not like we will be able to just call in an extra backhoe or swing by the local Lowes to pick up the stuff we forgot. ;-)
Anyway it’s very cool to see Kodak still relevant in cutting edge space technology. Kudos to Jeff and the gang accross the street from me. :)
