We sort of saw this comming when the Kindle iPhone App appeared as a free download in the Apple App Store. But now we have confirmation from the man at the top, Jeff Bezos.
According to Mr. Amazon, the real money is n the E-Books not the hardware, so although they have every intention to keep making the Amazon Kindle hardware we should be able to see other companies license the software for use on their own devices.
For me this is good news, I love the concept of the Kindle but I just can’t justify the price for a one trick device. So now perhaps we will see some other manufacturers building either cheaper devices or some tablets that can do more than just act as E-Readers. (a hem, Apple I am still pulling for this media pad thingy)
