Personally I think Sprint is smart. Why announce support for anything beyond 2012? Isn’t that when the world is going to end?
End of days a side, I think the nail in the coffin for WiMAX was the iPhone comming to Sprint. It will undoubtably be the most popular phone on the network within a year, and you know it’s not going to support WiMAX.
LTE is where it’s at, and for once we have a world wide standard that is being adopted here in the USA.
The only problem is, if you’re a sprint customer, do you buy a new WiMax phone now? I’m not sure I would, unless 2012 is really the end of days in which case… Go for it!
