You know and love the Intel Atom. It’s the chip that is driving the sub $500 netbook and nettop market. High power, low battery use, take anywhere machines.
Well it looks like the next version will include a graphics GPU and a memory controller on the same chip as the Atom CPU.
Intel claims this will reduce power consumption and cost of the over all platform even more, which it should.
But my concern is the Intel Graphics. Even in my low cost Dell Mini 9 Netbook, the Intel GPU is the weakest link. It’s the only thing keeping my micro lappy from being the media viewing device I really wish it was.
Please Intel, lets use that Nvidia partnership you have and put Nvidia’s graphics on the die… Yeah I know you won’t.
But $200 netbooks are a good thing.
