So, AllThingsD, the pet blog of Wall Street Journal’s Walt Mossberg, is reporting that October 4th is the Announcement Date for the iPhone 5, and that Timmy C will be running the show.

Tim Cook seems to be the focus of the article, but I find that as no suprise, even though he’s never handled an Apple Keynote, it’s now expected andf I think he’ll do a fine job in place of Steve.

But I am still doubting it will be an iPhone 5.  I think we will see an iPhone 4s or 4g or something along those lines.   Same basic shape, maybe with a metal back instead of glass, certainly with a update camera and processor.

There maybe an iPhone 5 announced, but I expect it willbe mentioned in passing as an announcement for next summer to put the iPhone releases back on their former (pre Japan earthquake) schedule.

I expect the iOS gold master will be released to the public on the 4th, I expect the slight update in iPhone hardware to include iPod touch, I don’t think there will be any announcement of 4G LTE capabilities, and I doubt there will be an iPad announcement other than the updated iOS 5 software.

Oh and I think Steve Jobs will be there for a “One More thing” which may include an update or complete redesign of the iPod Nano, (remember this is traditionally the time to announce updates to the iPod line.)

Those are my predictions, what say you?
