Note to Military: We Have CGI Now →
I think we can ALL agree that regardless of your political bent, having Air Force One buzz through Manhattan the other day was a bad idea. Laying aside the screaming, fear-laden populace of New York evacuating buildings and making frantic calls to 911, it was just foolhardy from start to finish. The official explanation we were offered was that a photo op was being taken of AF1 around the...

Verizon iPhone deal looking more legit... →
Normally, I don’t pay much attention to these rumors. There has been talk of Verizon Wireless getting an iPhone for years, and nothing ever comes of it.
I have said it before and I’ll say it again Apple isn’t going to build a CDMA capable version of the iPhone. Even though CDMA seems to be a superior technology especially here in the states, world wide the tech of choice is...

Hackers Claim They Created 'Unfixable' Windows 7... →
That’s a pretty big claim. Unfixable.
A program named VBootkit 2.0 can be installed on Windows 7 to grant remote access to the machine that is supposedly undetectable because it loads into system memory on boot up.
Uploaded with plasq’s Skitch!
Yikes, right? Well there is good news. There is no way to remotely install this software. You have to let someone at your machine or...

Shuttle X50 Touch Screen "Nettop" hits the USA →
So we are finally starting to see the desktop version of the netbook computer craze become available. The Shuttle version is similar to the Eee and the MSI products in that they are taking a que from the Apple iMac and becomming an All in one computer and monitor solution.
What’s disappointing to me is that the Shuttle X50 has only a 15.6” screen in it for the $500 price tag, but...

Red Invasion will bring us cheap blu-ray players... →
But will it be enough. Sure $99 Blu-ray players may be just the thing to finally make me pick one up. But it’s doubtful I’ll be purchasing a bunch of movies for my home library unless they bring those prices down.

Here is the part the giant conglomerates are not getting. People will invest money in a good player if the movies are affordable.

RUMOR: Apple netbooks being built by Foxconn →
Strictly a rumor at this point, but this rumor is gaining legs.
Supposedly Foxconn has been given the nod to start manufacturing the rumored Apple netbook. They have done work for Apple before most notably they did some of the work for the iPhone, so they may have the necessary expertise to put together what is rumored to be a 10” touch screen netbook.

Radioshacks Now Accepting Old Gadget Trade-Ins in... →
This is sort of interesting. For a while now you have been able to use an online form to get some cash for your old gear from Radio Shack, as well as a few other places. But now you can pack up your gear and take it into an actual Radio Shack store and get some store credit for it.
They will accept Car Audio, Laptops, MP3 players, GPS, Game Consoles, HDTV’s, Computer Monitors, Cameras...

D-Link Now Shipping Next-Generation Powerline Kit →
As cool and as easy to use as WiFi is, sometimes you just need a real wire to get things done. Things like streaming HD content for example. Or maybe connecting an Xbox 360 to your DSL connection at the other end of the house.
For certain things a real wire is better, but unless you handy enough to start carving up your house, or smart enough to have every room wired with Ethernet when your...

AT&T looking to push iPhone exclusivity to 2011? →
I’m sure they are looking to do it, but the question is, will Apple let them?
I guess the bigger question is, why wouldn’t Apple let them? It’s not like Apple is going to start making another handset just for the Sprint and Verizon CDMA networks, when the iPhone already supports the world recognized cell phone standard of GSM.

Xbox 360's warranty now covers E74 errors, finally →
In case you missed it, Microsoft seems to have fixed the dreaded Red Ring of Death that used to plague the Xbox 360 console, heck it took out two different consoles of mine.
But there has been a new hardware failure looming with the newer builds of the amazing but problem plagued Xbox 360 game console. Known only as the E74 Hardware failure.

Tech Crunch's Crunch Pad, may just be the Apple... →
I don’t think I even bother covering this when Micheal Arrington first announced it. I mean really, so many tech journalists and pundits wax on poeticly about their ideal portable devices. The perfect gadget for everyday use. blah blah blah, right?
So when Micheal Arrington announced that he was going to actually develop the “Crunch Pad” I thought that was interesting, but...

Amazon Begins Selling Xbox Live Arcade Games →
Sure you could always buy Xbox 360 titles on Amazon. In fact they used to be a pretty good deal there (especially if you could find something used).
But the only place you could buy an Xbox Live Arcade title was from within the Xbox 360 dashboard, until now.
Amazon is now offering Xbox Live Arcade games for sale via a code that you can use in the Xbox 360 dashboard to get the game.
I’m...

So Much for Cheaper Music on Amazon... →
Apple’s iTunes store rolled out it’s variable pricing plan a few days ago which sent popular tracks from $0.99 to $1.29 but then lowered a few tracks to $0.69. A move we knew was coming.
Uploaded with plasq’s Skitch!
For a while at least it looked like this was going to give a price edge to Amazon who was holding fast to it’s down loadable track price of $0.99.
Until...

Blockbuster–R.I.P.? →
Uh oh, I have known this was coming for a while now, but still. It always seems to sneak up on you.
It seems that Blockbuster, brick and mortar video rental giant, admitted to the SEC yesterday that they may not be able to meet the conditions of their $250 million dollar loan.
Uploaded with plasq’s Skitch!
That loan seems to be the only thing keeping Blockbuster above water currently.

Telephoto Lens Implant For Your Eye Becoming a... →
As predicted back in the days of Steve Austin, bionic eyes could be available shortly. Well not really bionic, more like telephoto eyes.
Doctor’s have perfected what looks like a contact lens but is actually an implant that contains up to a 4x telephoto lens.

From my understanding the lens is designed to focus the incoming light on a part of the eye...

Here is some fun Friday news.
Mr. Jacobs a resident of the apparently affuent village of Broughton in Buckinghamshire gathered his neighbors and chased a Google street view car out of town.
Mr. Jacobs was quoted in The Times as saying:
“My immediate reaction was anger; how dare anyone take a photograph of my home without my consent?”
“This is an affluent area. We’ve...
